We first learned of Norway’s Monica Birkenes (stage name Mr Little Jeans) back in 2011 with the release of her amazing cover of Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs.” Birkenes teamed up with the Silverlake Conservatory of Music Youth Chorale for ”Oh Sailor,” her first single from her debut full length release. The Scottish electropop group known as Chvrches (pronounced as “churches” and also stylized as CHVRCHES) released their debut EP today, a mere two years after their formation. The band, led by the vocals of Lauren Mayberry, toured through Europe last year opening for established acts such as Passion Pit, and in 2013 they played in America for the first time, performing at SXSW.
